Amazon’s Project Kuiper, a low Earth orbit satellite network, has announced that its constellation has grown to over 100 satellites. The company is preparing for its next mission, which will bring the total number of deployed spacecraft to 129.
Upcoming Mission to Expand Constellation
On September 25, 2025, Project Kuiper will launch its third mission, designated KA-03, using a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket. The mission will deploy another 27 satellites, bringing the total number in orbit to 129. This follows the initial deployment of 27 satellites in April 2025.
The satellites will be launched from Space Launch Complex-41 at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The ULA Atlas V 551 rocket will deploy the spacecraft at an altitude of 280 miles (450 kilometres) above Earth.
Once in orbit, the Project Kuiper team will take command from their mission operations centre in Redmond, Washington. The team will confirm the satellites’ health and then raise them to their final assigned orbit of 392 miles (630 km) above Earth.
The Kuiper constellation’s ultimate goal is to reach over 3,200 satellites to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities worldwide.
