Bulgarian software and IT services group Wiser Technology [BUL:WISR] announced today its participation in two successful consortia for projects exceeding €33 million, funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF).
The first project, ASTERION, is a 36-month initiative coordinated by the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research. This collaborative effort brings together 19 organizations, including numerous research institutes, to develop a flexible and secure underwater communication system aimed at enhancing interoperability within maritime defence. Wiser Technology will contribute its specialized algorithms and protocol expertise in ultrasonics for underwater communication as part of this consortium.
The second project, MARTINA, is a 48-month initiative led by the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre. MARTINA aims to establish a standardized framework for evaluating the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in analyzing diverse satellite imagery for defence applications. Wiser Technology’s role in this project includes the development of the consortium’s software infrastructure, encompassing user identity and access management, an intuitive front-end interface, and a scalable back-end system for data handling, workflow management, and result submission. The company will also leverage its expertise in road infrastructure analysis through dataset preparation, evaluation frameworks, and AI lifecycle development.
These new engagements expand Wiser Technology’s growing presence in European defence innovation, building upon its existing portfolio of over a dozen projects within the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP), EDF, and NATO frameworks.
As of 1530 CEST on Thursday, Wiser Technology’s shares on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) experienced a positive market response, trading 4.31% higher at 4.84 levs (€2.47).
