Vietnam Seeks Samsung C&T Partnership for Energy Project Development

Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has requested Samsung C&T, the construction and engineering arm of South Korean conglomerate Samsung, to provide technology transfer and workforce training to Vietnamese businesses involved in energy projects. The request was made during a meeting on Monday between Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long and a Samsung C&T delegation led by Vice President Lee Byung Soo.

Deputy Minister Long praised Samsung C&T’s role as the contractor for the Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 complex, Vietnam’s inaugural LNG-fired power project. He emphasized the significant opportunities within Vietnam’s energy market for investors, particularly for Samsung C&T given its advanced technology and extensive experience.

Vietnam remains committed to developing LNG-fired power projects to meet its growing energy demands, despite the global shift towards renewable energy. Deputy Minister Long also highlighted Vietnam’s interest in nuclear power, prioritizing verified technologies and expressing a willingness to collaborate with South Korea on projects aiming to develop 6,000 MW of nuclear capacity by 2035.
