RLB secures spot on nationwide newbuild homes framework

Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) UK has been appointed to the Communities and Housing Investment Consortium Ltd (CHIC) Newbuild Framework. This eight-year nationwide public sector framework, valued at £3.2 billion, covers construction works and consultancy services beginning in March 2024.

The framework caters to a wide range of project types, from small infill developments and garage sites to large-scale estate regeneration projects. This includes newbuilds, refurbishments/retrofits, and cross-subsidy housing for sale. It also encompasses modern methods of construction (MMC) solutions, including fully modular, frame and panel, and turnkey options.

RLB secured a position on ‘Lot 1 – Consultancy Services,’ where they will provide project management services such as Employer’s Agent and Principal Designer roles. The framework lots and workstreams were designed through consultations with CHIC members, consultants, and contractors to ensure a compliant route to market that addresses the sector’s evolving needs.

Sarah Davey, CHIC’s Head of Development, said: “This framework offers our members an inclusive approach, encouraging innovation, efficiency and social value outcomes. We believe it will help our members to deliver their newbuild developments efficiently, setting a gold standard for the sector.”

Paul Sambrook, Partner and Head of Residential for RLB, added, “The CHIC newbuild framework that has been designed to meet its members needs, is leading the way in inclusive working and ensuring innovation, sustainability and quality are at the very core of activities. These values are very much at the heart of RLB and the team is extremely pleased to have been appointed to provide Employer’s Agent and Principal Designer services, building on our existing relationship with CHIC. We are really looking forward to continuing to support its members.”

Membership in CHIC is free and available to any public sector body. Over 200 organisations are already members, primarily housing associations and local authorities, but also include members from the health and education sectors.
