TotalEnergies Moves to Next Exploration Well in Namibia Following Successful Oil Discovery

TotalEnergies has announced the successful completion of drilling operations at the Tamboti-1X well in Namibia and has commenced spudding activities at the Marula-1X exploration well in Block 2913B (PEL 56).

This move follows the company’s significant oil discovery at the Venus-1 well in the Orange Basin, which has sparked significant exploration activity in the region.  

TotalEnergies operates Block 2913B in PEL 56, which covers approximately 8,215km² offshore Namibia. The company holds a 50.5% stake in the block, with QatarEnergy holding 30%, Africa Oil’s Impact Oil and Gas holding 9.5%, and Namibia’s NAMCOR holding 10%.

The Orange Basin has emerged as a key exploration hotspot in recent years, with several significant discoveries made by various oil and gas companies, including Shell’s Graff-1, La Rona-1, and Jonker-1 wells.
