Sigma Technology, a leading global technology consulting company, is pleased to announce its participation in the “Safer Crossways” project, a significant initiative aimed at improving road safety in Sweden.
This collaborative project focuses on developing advanced infrastructure-to-vehicle (I2V) communication systems to enhance road safety for all users, particularly vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists. By developing a non-proprietary, protocol-agnostic Road Side Unit (RSU) architecture, the project seeks to create a scalable, interoperable, and cost-effective foundation for future traffic safety solutions.
“Imagine a system where traffic lights, vehicles, and road signs can ‘talk’ to each other in real-time, sharing information about potential hazards or pedestrians crossing the road,” explains Sara Dalvig, a consultant at Sigma Technology Embedded Network. “Using IoT and smart infrastructure, we are creating a connected network that helps drivers make safer decisions and gives vulnerable road users the protection they need. It’s like giving roads and vehicles their own safety team.”

This project is part of FFI (Fordonsstrategisk forskning och innovation) and supports Vinnova’s mission to drive vehicle transport innovations for a sustainable society.
