Gentari Sdn Bhd, a clean energy solutions provider, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for an 80-megawatt (MW) wind power project in Tamil Nadu, India. This agreement is a key outcome of a collaboration forged between the two companies in 2023.
The project is scheduled to begin commercial operations in mid-2027 and is expected to generate approximately 300,000 megawatt-hours of clean energy annually. This initiative supports the region’s renewable energy goals and aligns with both companies’ commitments to sustainability.
A document exchange ceremony was held to commemorate the signing, with key representatives from both organizations in attendance. Gentari was represented by Chief Renewables Officer Low Kian Min, while AWS was represented by Managing Director of ASEAN Jeff Johnson. The event was witnessed by several senior executives, including Gentari Chairman and PETRONAS President and Group Chief Executive Officer Tengku Muhammad Taufik, and AWS Vice President of Global Services Uwem Ukpong, among others.
