The British Embassy Ashgabat and the British Council have announced the successful completion of the “Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia” (AELLCA) project at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages. This initiative, funded by the UK Government and implemented in partnership with Nottingham Trent University, marks a significant milestone in the growing educational collaboration between the United Kingdom and Turkmenistan.
On March 19th, a closing ceremony was held to celebrate the project’s achievements, attended by British Ambassador Stephen Conlon. Ambassador Conlon highlighted the substantial progress made in English Language Teaching (ELT) at the institute and emphasized the strengthening educational ties between the two nations.
Teachers from the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages were awarded certificates from Nottingham Trent University, recognizing their commitment and successful participation in the project. Dr. Samuel Barclay of Nottingham Trent University presented key findings and reflections on the initiative’s impact.
The AELLCA project also facilitated study visits to the UK for faculty members from the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages and the International University for Humanities and Development. These visits aimed to enhance their understanding of school-based continuing professional development practices.
This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of both the UK and Turkmenistan to fostering stronger connections through language and education, paving the way for future opportunities and enhanced cultural exchange.
