New All-Party Parliamentary Group Launches to Champion Project Delivery in the UK

A new All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Project Delivery has been established in the UK, uniting MPs, Peers, and stakeholders to enhance the delivery of major government projects. The Association for Project Management (APM) and the project professional community played a key role in the APPG’s formation.

At its inaugural meeting, Henry Tufnell MP was elected Chair, with Llinos Medi MP, The Rt Hon Lord Lilley, and Lord Goddard of Stockport appointed Vice-Chairs.

The APPG will serve as a central hub for expertise, improving public policy by connecting parliamentarians with project professionals, academics, civil servants, Ministers, and key organizations like the National Infrastructure Commission (NIC), Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA), and National Audit Office (NAO). Its core objectives include:

  • Strengthening links between Parliament and major project stakeholders.
  • Expanding knowledge of project delivery and management.
  • Raising the profile of the project profession and advancing understanding of projects.

“This APPG has an ambitious work plan which will scrutinize project delivery and provide valuable insight and advice on better delivery, whatever the type of project,” said Chair Henry Tufnell MP.

Andrew Baldwin, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at APM, highlighted the need for the APPG, emphasizing the importance of focusing on delivery, skills improvement, and addressing supply issues. “The APPG has a long list of reports and studies to undertake, and we will be looking to our members, our corporate partners and academia to help us deliver them,” he added.
