Simplilearn Launches Project Management Programme Focused on Generative AI Skills

Simplilearn has introduced a new Professional Certificate Program in Project Management with Generative AI, developed in collaboration with The University of Oklahoma Outreach, as demand grows for project professionals equipped to operate in increasingly digital and AI-driven environments.

The programme is designed to integrate Generative AI into core project management practices, with a focus on planning, forecasting, reporting and decision-making. It includes an AI-driven hybrid project simulation capstone, alongside hands-on experience with more than 15 industry tools, 25 live demonstrations and over 10 guided practice sessions.

The launch reflects a wider shift across the profession. Recent research indicates that 70% of project professionals report their organisations are now using AI, up from 36% just two years ago.

Blending AI capability with delivery frameworks

The curriculum combines traditional project management principles with Agile and hybrid delivery models, including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP and SAFe. It also introduces learners to predictive analytics and generative AI applications across scheduling, risk forecasting, cost control and reporting, with an emphasis on ethical use and data privacy.

Delivered through a blended learning model, the programme combines self-paced study with live, instructor-led sessions. Participants will engage with case studies, simulations and practical projects, culminating in a capstone assignment focused on real-world business challenges.

Kashyap Dalal, Cofounder and COO of Simplilearn, said: “Project managers today are expected to work with increasingly complex environments where AI and digital tools are becoming integral to planning. Through this program, we aim to train professionals with practical exposure to Generative AI, analytics-driven decision support, and modern tools, enabling them to apply these capabilities competently in their day-to-day project workflows. This association with The University of Oklahoma Outreach supports the upcoming project managers with the skills needed to thrive in this dynamic landscape.”

Strengthening professional development pathways

The programme also includes an elective module in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, covering the DMAIC methodology to support process improvement, efficiency and performance optimisation across project environments.

Belinda Biscoe, Senior Associate Vice President at The University of Oklahoma Outreach, said: “The course is designed to align with Project Management Institute standards, offering PDUs that support ongoing professional development and certification pathways. We look forward to the combined expertise this collaboration will bring to deliver the program at its best. The curriculum goes beyond traditional approaches by combining PMP® fundamentals with Agile and hybrid delivery models, modern project management tools, and PMO practices, enabling learners to effectively manage real-world business complexity.”

Open to applicants aged 18 and over with a high school diploma or equivalent, the programme accommodates both technical and non-technical backgrounds. Those intending to pursue PMP® certification will require relevant professional experience.

Upon completion, participants will receive a joint certificate and digital badge from Simplilearn and The University of Oklahoma Outreach, positioning them to apply AI-enabled project management practices in a rapidly evolving delivery landscape.
