Premios Verdes Opens 2026 Call to Scale Sustainable Projects Across Latin America

Premios Verdes has launched the eleventh edition of its regional programme, inviting operational social and environmental projects to apply by 30 April. More than an awards platform, the initiative functions as a structured acceleration and connection programme designed to strengthen long-term viability and scale impact across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The call targets projects already delivering measurable results across ten categories, including energy, circular economy, freshwater, resilient cities, finance and green technology. Applications are free and prioritise initiatives demonstrating verifiable environmental or social impact, financial sustainability and scalability.

From a project management perspective, the emphasis is clear: sustainability is not only about innovation, but about governance, financing models and delivery capability. Many impact initiatives fail not because of weak ideas, but because they lack structured support, market access and growth pathways.

Evidence of programme impact

According to a 2013–2023 impact study conducted by PwC, 71% of participating projects remained operational beyond two years. Additionally, 74% reported revenue growth after participation, and 36% secured access to financing. These metrics suggest that structured evaluation, mentoring and visibility can materially improve project resilience and commercial performance.

The 2026 edition will culminate in a global event in October in Cuenca, Ecuador, bringing together selected projects, investors, multilateral organisations and corporate partners. Country Chapters in Bolivia, Peru and Colombia will support local preparation and ecosystem development ahead of the international gathering.

Technical evaluation and ecosystem support

Projects are assessed by an international jury under defined criteria covering environmental impact, social contribution, financial sustainability and innovation. The model integrates technical curation, acceleration processes and international networking, creating a programme lifecycle that extends beyond recognition.

For impact-driven ventures, this reflects a portfolio-style approach: identification, evaluation, capability strengthening and international positioning. The objective is not simply visibility, but structured scaling.

With more than 20,000 projects submitted from 53 countries over the past decade, Premios Verdes has evolved into a regional platform connecting entrepreneurs, governments, development banks and multilateral institutions.

As Latin America continues to confront climate risk, social inequality and economic transition, the focus is shifting from ideation to execution. Programmes such as Premios Verdes highlight the importance of disciplined project models, measurable outcomes and strategic partnerships in turning local solutions into scalable, long-term impact.
