Supporting Local Contractors and Future Planning
The Project Management Unit has recently held Business Opportunity and Awareness Meetings with local contractors on procurement and preparations for upcoming tenders. Kramer Asia Pacific, the design consultant for Component 1, will soon release the detailed designs for the civil works.
CAUSE II has also identified future infrastructure needs in Guadalcanal, Auki, Gizo, Munda and Noro, broadening the project’s long-term reach.
Alongside infrastructure upgrades, the project includes four additional components:
- Safe and Inclusive Communities
- Enhanced Urban Productivity
- Urban Management and Land Administration
- Project Management
The Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) and Honiara City Council (HCC) continue to oversee this World Bank and Australian government-funded initiative, which aims to improve urban services, strengthen climate resilience and expand employment opportunities across Solomon Islands’ rapidly growing towns and cities.
