His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, has announced the launch of the King Salman Gate project, a transformative multi-use development in the holy city of Makkah.
The project, which marks a major milestone in the development of Makkah and its central area, is set to establish the city as a global benchmark in modern urban planning.
Global Benchmark in Urban Planning
King Salman Gate will span up to 12 million square metres of gross floor area adjacent to the Grand Mosque. The vast integrated mixed-use destination is strategically located to significantly enhance the visitor and pilgrimage experience.
The urban development and infrastructure transformation of King Salman Gate will contribute to enhancing access to the Grand Mosque, elevating service quality, and enriching every visitor’s journey, in alignment with the goals of the Pilgrim Experience Program.
The development will prioritise elevating the levels of currently provided services, while offering residential, hospitality, commercial, and cultural experiences. It will feature capacity for around 900,000 indoor and outdoor praying spaces.
Preserving Heritage and Driving Vision 2030
The project’s design will pay homage to Makkah’s identity, blending its rich architectural heritage with world-class modern living to create a truly unique experience. It will also focus on cultural preservation, restoring and developing approximately 19,000 square metres of heritage sites, ensuring Makkah’s cultural and historical legacy is preserved to enrich every visitor’s journey.
Connectivity is a key feature, with the project ensuring easy access and comfort through its seamless connection to public transportation networks.
Economically, the King Salman Gate is expected to contribute significantly to the Saudi Vision 2030 goals of economic transformation, projecting the creation of more than 300,000 jobs by 2036.
