Zelestra, a leading Spanish independent power producer (IPP), today announced the successful commencement of commercial operations at its 435MWdc Gorbea solar project located in the state of Rajasthan, India. This landmark project significantly contributes to India’s clean energy goals and reinforces Zelestra’s commitment to renewable energy development in the region.
The Gorbea solar facility is backed by a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a testament to the project’s long-term viability and strategic importance. It is projected to generate 755 GWh of clean electricity annually, providing a substantial boost to the country’s renewable energy capacity.
The state-of-the-art plant incorporates advanced Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) solar cells for enhanced efficiency. Furthermore, the facility employs over 1,300 robotic cleaning units for optimal maintenance, ensuring consistent performance and maximizing energy yield.
