Juniper Green Energy, a leading independent power producer (IPP), today announced the full commissioning of its 217 MWp Chapalgaon Solar Project in Solapur, Maharashtra. The completion of this significant renewable energy facility underscores Juniper’s commitment to accelerating India’s clean energy transition, with the project brought online an impressive 18 months ahead of its anticipated schedule.
The Chapalgaon project was commissioned in two strategic phases, with 145.99 MWp initiated in May 2025, followed by the final 71 MWp phase in June 2025. This state-of-the-art solar plant will supply clean electricity to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) through Juniper’s subsidiary, Juniper Green Ray Two Private Limited.

This achievement further bolsters Juniper Green Energy’s operational capacity, which now stands at approximately 1.45 GWp. The company is actively pursuing ambitious growth targets, aiming for a 10 GW capacity by 2030. To support this expansion, Juniper recently secured a supply agreement with Chinese inverter manufacturer Sungrow for 835 MW of high-efficiency inverters, including SG320HX-20 string inverters and SG4400UD-20 central inverters, slated for deployment across upcoming solar projects in Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
In a strategic move to diversify regional energy mixes, Juniper also recently commissioned a 100 MW solar project in Rajasthan. This marks the company’s inaugural merchant solar plant designed to supply power directly to Bhutan, offering an alternative to the nation’s traditional reliance on hydropower and electricity imports from India.
Further demonstrating its commitment to robust supply chains and advanced technology, Juniper Green Energy finalized a 1 GW module supply deal with First Solar, a U.S.-based cadmium telluride thin-film module manufacturer, in December 2024. This two-year agreement ensures the supply of First Solar’s Series 7 FT1 thin-film modules for Juniper’s projects in the western states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, leveraging modules produced at First Solar’s 3.3 GW manufacturing facility in India, which commenced operations in January 2024
