The DOLCE VITA project, an initiative launched in 2019 focusing on data-driven optimization in healthcare, has achieved promising results and is now moving into a critical practical implementation phase. This next step, titled “Data-driven optimization of health supply chains in the acute elderly care,” will see researchers from CWI and Amsterdam UMC collaborate closely with approximately ten care providers in the Amsterdam region. The new project is funded by TKI (Top Knowledge Institute) Dinalog.
The announcement follows a recent event at CWI where the project team presented their advanced mathematical models and simulation results, leveraging data from Dutch healthcare institutions, to representatives from care organizations and health insurers. These models are designed to enhance efficiency and reduce waiting times within healthcare supply chains.
In conjunction with the practical implementation, a “Community of Practice” is being established. This collaborative group will comprise care providers, insurers, scientists, and other key stakeholders. Its primary objective is to foster the exchange of practical knowledge and scientific insights aimed at improving patient flow and reducing waitlists across various healthcare sectors. While initial efforts for this new phase will concentrate on acute elderly care, the Community of Practice will also address challenges in mental health, youth care, and disability care.
