Siemens Energy is significantly bolstering Sarawak’s renewable energy goals, particularly through its vital role in the H2ornbill project, affirmed Datuk Dr. Hazland Abang Hipni, Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability. This assurance followed a productive meeting between Dr. Hazland and a Siemens Energy delegation on Monday.
The Siemens Energy delegation was led by Karim Amin, Executive Board Member and Executive Vice President, who also serves as CEO of Gas Services Asia Pacific. The meeting underscored a mutual dedication to forging a sustainable energy future for Sarawak and the wider region.
Dr. Hazland highlighted that the H2ornbill project is designed to leverage Sarawak’s abundant renewable resources to produce green hydrogen for both domestic consumption and international export. He emphasized the critical need for ongoing collaboration between governmental bodies and industry leaders to ensure the successful implementation of the state’s green energy roadmap.
“Siemens Energy’s contributions, including their advanced electrolyzers and high-performance compressors, are instrumental in enabling efficient and scalable hydrogen production,” Dr. Hazland noted.
The discussions also served as a platform to explore future collaborative opportunities in key areas such as decarbonization, energy efficiency, and technology transfer. These partnerships are considered essential for accelerating Sarawak’s transition to clean energy. Dr. Hazland expressed appreciation for Siemens Energy’s substantial role in helping Sarawak establish itself as a regional leader in sustainable and low-carbon energy solutions.
