Nvidia, Cisco, Oracle, and OpenAI Supporting UAE “Stargate” AI Data Center Initiative

Leading U.S. technology firms Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA), Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO), Oracle (NYSE: ORCL), and OpenAI are reportedly backing the newly announced “UAE Stargate” artificial intelligence data center project, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

Sources indicate that AI chip giant Nvidia will be a key hardware supplier, providing its latest Blackwell GB300 systems for the ambitious project. The data center, located in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, will be developed by the Emirati firm G42.

Notably, one source suggests that UAE Stargate will collaborate with the U.S. “Stargate” AI infrastructure initiative announced earlier this year. Oracle’s involvement in UAE Stargate has also been cited by a separate source, aligning with co-founder Larry Ellison’s participation in the U.S. Stargate announcement.

The UAE Stargate facility is projected to be a massive 5-gigawatt campus spanning 10 square miles. The U.S. Commerce Department previously announced the data center’s establishment.

The involvement of top executives, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Cisco President Jeetu Patel, and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, who were all reportedly in the UAE recently, further underscores the significance of this initiative.

While Nvidia, Cisco, and OpenAI declined to comment on the matter, the first phase of UAE Stargate is reportedly slated to include a 1-gigawatt compute cluster.

This development follows OpenAI’s February announcement regarding potential U.S. Stargate data center campuses across 16 states and recent news of Nvidia’s agreement to sell 18,000 Blackwell chips to Saudi Arabian company Humain for its 500-megawatt data centers. AMD has also announced its involvement in supplying chips to Humain, with the Saudi firm committing $10 billion to its AI infrastructure endeavors.

The UAE Stargate project signifies a substantial expansion of global AI infrastructure and highlights the collaborative efforts of major technology players in advancing the field.
