RISEnergy Launches Call for Innovative Projects to Reduce Renewable Energy Life Cycle Costs

RISEnergy, an EU-funded initiative dedicated to advancing renewable energy technologies, has announced the opening of its second transnational access (TA) call for applications. The call invites researchers from both academic and industrial sectors to propose groundbreaking projects focused on enhancing energy systems and significantly reducing the life cycle costs associated with renewable energy technologies.

This funding opportunity encompasses a wide range of critical areas within the renewable energy landscape, including ocean energy, offshore wind, hydrogen, concentrated solar power, energy storage, information and communication technology, biofuels, materials for energy, smart grids, and photovoltaics (PV). Notably, project proposals that integrate at least two of these key areas will be given priority in the evaluation process.

Researchers seeking access to cutting-edge European research infrastructures are encouraged to explore the facilities listed on the official RISEnergy platform. Applications must be submitted exclusively via the provided online form, with a deadline of May 4, 2025.

An independent panel of experts will conduct a thorough evaluation of all submitted proposals. Through its TA scheme, RISEnergy provides researchers with complimentary access to leading European research infrastructures, fostering innovation and accelerating the development of sustainable renewable energy solutions.

Among the advanced facilities available to applicants is VGA’s SWEET Lab (Structural Wave Energy Equipment Test Lab) in Deruta, Italy. This specialized laboratory, originally established under the IMPACT project, focuses on advancing ocean energy technologies. The RISEnergy TA scheme offers a streamlined, peer-reviewed process for researchers to gain access to this and other key European facilities.

RISEnergy’s inaugural TA call, launched in October 2024, provided researchers in fields such as ocean energy, offshore wind, and hydrogen with the opportunity to leverage European facilities and services specifically dedicated to the advancement of renewable energy technology. This second call reinforces RISEnergy’s commitment to driving innovation and cost reduction across the renewable energy sector.
