Cadence Design Systems, a leading US-based technology company, has confirmed significant investment plans for Cardiff, establishing a new design center in a joint venture that will generate more than 100 high-skilled jobs. This announcement coincides with the Welsh Government’s unveiling of its inaugural international investment summit, scheduled for December, aimed at attracting global capital and employment to Wales.

The joint venture, in partnership with the Welsh Government, will see Cadence Design Systems and the Compound Semiconductor Applications (CSA) Catapult collaborate on the new design center. This initiative will focus on the development of semiconductor chips, addressing critical skills shortages within the industry and establishing a robust pipeline for graduate talent.

First Minister Eluned Morgan confirmed the December summit will be held at the Celtic Manor and International Convention Centre (ICC) Wales in Newport. The summit will serve as a platform to showcase Wales as a prime destination for international investment, highlighting the region’s growing technological capabilities and strategic partnerships.
