NatWest Group India, in partnership with NGO Saahas, has launched Project बिनMalba, a significant initiative aimed at addressing the growing challenge of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste in Gurugram. This project reflects NatWest Group India’s commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible waste management, contributing to a greener future.
Over the next 16 months, Project बिनMalba will focus on developing and implementing sustainable and scalable solutions for C&D waste management within select areas of Gurugram’s Zone 3. Key objectives include raising awareness among residents, waste collection agencies, and civil contractors about responsible waste management practices, diverting approximately 2,000 metric tons of C&D waste from landfills through recycling efforts, and developing a comprehensive recommendation report for the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) to guide the development of a city-wide waste management strategy.

A panel discussion featuring key stakeholders, including government officials, environmental experts, and representatives from civil society, highlighted the critical need for responsible waste disposal, recycling, and active citizen participation to ensure sustainable urban development. Concerns were raised regarding the potential health hazards for residents and the threat to the Aravalli’s biodiversity posed by improper waste management.
Archana Tripathi, CEO of Saahas, emphasized the importance of stakeholder awareness, drawing from the learnings of a similar pilot project in Bengaluru. “Citizens, contractors, and waste generators need a clearer understanding of their roles in C&D waste disposal,” she stated. “Accessible information on disposal mechanisms and a structured collection and transportation system, especially for non-bulk waste generators, are crucial to prevent illegal dumping and promote responsible waste management.”
Project बिनMalba is expected to play a crucial role in developing and implementing innovative solutions to address the growing C&D waste challenge in Gurugram, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable urban environment.
