Nottingham Universities Participate in Fully-Funded Research Projects

Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham are inviting members of the local community to apply for fully-funded 10-week research placements as part of their Co(l)laboratory program. This initiative, a key component of the Universities for Nottingham Civic Agreement, aims to foster collaboration between academia and the community to address local challenges and improve the lives of residents.

The Colaboratory Research Placements offer a unique opportunity for community members to engage in real-world research projects that explore cutting-edge solutions to local issues. Participants will gain valuable research experience, receive a £1,300 bursary, and benefit from mentorship from experienced researchers.

The 2025 research projects, developed in collaboration with local community organizations, cover diverse topics such as sustainable resource management, urban nature, music education, and the history of political representation in Nottingham.

Applications for the placements are now open and will be accepted until March 2, 2025. The program is open to UK residents residing in Nottinghamshire or surrounding areas who do not hold a postgraduate degree and are not currently enrolled in higher education.

This initiative reflects the universities’ commitment to engaging with the local community and contributing to the social and economic development of the region. By providing opportunities for community members to participate in research, the Co(l)laboratory program fosters a deeper understanding of local issues and empowers individuals to make a positive impact on their community.

The Colaboratory program is funded by Research England, as well as both Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham.
