Indian Billionaire Mukesh Ambani Plans World’s Largest AI Data Center, Challenging Tech Giants

Indian business magnate Mukesh Ambani is poised to disrupt the global AI landscape with ambitious plans to build the world’s largest AI data center in his home state of Gujarat.

The data center, located in Jamnagar, is projected to boast a staggering three gigawatts of capacity, dwarfing existing data centers globally. This ambitious undertaking signifies Reliance Industries’ entry into the AI race, positioning the company to compete directly with global tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI.

The project is expected to require a substantial investment, estimated to be between $20 billion and $30 billion. To finance this ambitious endeavor, Reliance Industries will likely explore various funding options, including potential government support.

This strategic move underscores the company’s commitment to building a robust AI infrastructure and establishing a strong foothold in the burgeoning AI market.

Ambani’s vision for this project extends beyond simply building a massive data center. He aims to leverage this infrastructure to offer low-cost inferencing services to businesses and developers worldwide. By providing access to powerful AI computing resources at competitive prices, Reliance aims to democratize AI and empower businesses of all sizes to leverage the power of AI.
